Why the Canucks will and will not win the Stanley Cup!

The Canucks are going into the playoffs with a lot of potential. Is this their year or is it like very other year?

Why the Canucks will win the Cup this year!

The Sedin twins are on fire!!! Henrik is the leading scorer and they are ready for the run. Daniel played only 63 games and had 85 pts. These guys are finally producing big #’s for top 20 scoring contracts.

Did you know that the Canucks are the second most scoring team in the league? I know it’s crazy but it’s true (272 goals for!).

Luongo! He’s a stud. Best goalie our franchise has possibly seen. Not sure if you know this but he’s an Olympic (starting goaltender) Gold Medalist. This guy can win games by himself which you need to have in the playoffs.

Kings in the 1st round??? Series should easily over in 5 games so they can rest vs the next best opponent. Vancouver beat them in the season series 3-1.

This is the best team we have had in years. The last team with this much hype and potential was the Naslund, Morrison, Bertuzzi year. Their problem was Cloutier but upgrading to Luongo should help.

The young guns are finally stepping it up. Raymond, Kesler, and Burrows (lead the team in goals) are taking good.

Vancouver has primary and secondary scoring lines (finally). Key additions like Samuelsson and Demtira have proved to be great compliments to this offense.

Their defense when healthy are fantastic. We have the hard hitting, difficult d men to play against with Mitchell and Bieska but I just love how solid and offensive Ehrhoff and Elder are.

Why the Canucks won’t. L

The fact that they have never won is probably the biggest reason. They have come close once in 1982 vs the Islanders and in 1994 vs the Rangers.

Luongo! As good as he has been he is famous for letting in the soft goal. In the playoffs that could be the difference. Roberto hasn’t looked great since the Olympics and that might have took the energy and focus he needed for the playoffs out of him.

Defense. Our defensemen seem to always get injured during the playoffs. No deal at the deadline, will that bite us in the butt?

Are they able to keep the goals going? 6 players scoring 25 goals or more in the regular season is fine but you got to put the puck in the net in the playoffs. You aren’t playing Edmonton, Calgary, or Columbus. The Kings are only 2 pts behind in the standings and 4 pts behind the Coyotes.

If you are a Canucks fan history says you don’t have a shot. I know why people play the game to make history but being a long time Canuck fan I always need a 2nd team to cheer for because the Canucks don’t make the playoffs or have an early exit. My secondary team is the Flyers. 1994 is now 16 years ago…the Canucks have a chance but it’s slim. If they face Chicago in the West I don’t think they can beat them. Hopefully someone else takes out the Blackhawks.

MY NHL 1st round predictions:

Peace in the EAST?

Wash kills Mon in 5

Philly upsets NJ in 7

Buffalo sweeps Boston in 4

Pitts owns Ott in 6

Out WEST

SJ beats Col in 5

Chic takes Nash in 6

Van beats the Kings in 5

Phx squeaks out a series win in 7 vs the Det (best series in the 1st rd).

Finals: Wash vs Van (or Chic)
