In one of the worst NBA Finals emerged one of the greatest teams in NBA history. The San Antonio Spurs dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers by sweeping them in 4 straight.
The Cavs were definitely inexperienced, unprepared and sub-par. LeBron was not his dominating self, his supporting cast didn’t step up, and they ran into a dynasty.
Now let’s talk about the Spurs. Many people don’t like them because they seem boring as they run a half court offense. But this is far from the truth. Parker and Ginobili are incredibly exciting. I love the supporting cast they assembled around them too. BUT the key is they win. They have been dominating for years; one of the greatest teams in history.
Tim Duncan: Simply amazing. Solid in all areas. Usually a 25 pt 10 + reb guy. 4 championships and he’s only 31. Will go down as one of the best in NBA history. Looked so happy tonight with that trophy.
Manu Ginobili: I think this guy doesn’t get enough credit. His ability to penetrate and finish every night against the best defenders in the league. I would love to see Bowen match up against him.
Bruce Bowen: Played great in game three and was a thorn in LeBron’s side all series. He’s underrated but extremely valuable. Great defender and can bomb 3’s.
Robert Horry: This guy is something else. He’s running out of fingers for his NBA rings. Big Shot Bob has 7 rings 10 fingers. Wow. Not as big of a force now he’s still clutch with this 3’s, great big man defender and can rebound. I am not impressed with his body check on Nash. Not necessary. For all you fans out there who think Horry’s move knocked out the Suns think about this. Game 6 Horry didn’t play and the Suns had Amare and Boris back and got smoked by the Spurs. You got to overcome adversity in order to win a championship.
Michael Finley: Great move signing with SA. He fit there perfectly and they needed his experience and added scoring. Nice to see all the guys playing for him to win his 1st championship.
Tony Parker: Totally deserved to be the Finals MVP. This guy is clutch and his speed is a huge asset.
With titles in 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2007 this team must be the odds on favourite to win next year. Dallas and Phoenix will be better and who knows what the East will hold. If a guy like Garnett gets traded then maybe it could swing differently in the predictions.
Unfortunately when the NBA Finals are over we are subject to the worst sports programming of the year. Baseball, golf and the CFL don’t cut it. The NFL will take me out of my sports depression in September. Can’t wait for best, fastest, strongest, most talented football players knock each other out in the NFL.

Ducks are Stanley Cup Champs!!!
I am happy and sad tonight. Happy that I not only predicted the Ducks to win it all at the beginning of the playoffs but that before the series started I said they would win in 5. Love the group photos.
Sad for a few reasons. One that Vancouver didn't win the Cup again. Two, that 3 Canadian teams made the finals in the last 3 years but NONE of them brought back Lord Stanley to the place it belongs. Will Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver be next?
On my other post I was saying that I was cheering for Ottawa but thought Anaheim would win. I found myself cheering for the Ducks the whole series. This has baffled me. I think I was cheering for Anaheim for a few key reasons:
1. I think I wanted to be right. I think everyone really wants to be right but few of us are not only in sports but in life.
2. I am really happy for Brian Burke. Why did Vancouver let him go? He changed the face of Canuck hockey to be exciting again. I like Nonis for pulling the best Canuck trade in our history (Bert for Luongo). Burke signed FA's Selanne and S.Niedermayer. Pulled the trigger to get Pronger for Lupul/Smid/picks and Beauchemin/Wright for Fedorov. His 1st yr they went to the Western Final and his 2nd yr he won the Cup.
3. I wanted Selanne to win a cup. Why would Winnipeg trade a guy who scored 76 goals in his rookie season? I think he's going to retire so I was hoping he would win it. Teemu's career stats are 506 goals, 595 assists, and 1135 total pts. A future hall of famer for sure. By the way he was 3rd in the league in scoring this yr.
4. Really wanted those young guns to win a Cup. Love Perry, MacDonald and Penner. Getlaf and Kunitz rock too.
5. I wanted Giguere to win it this time around. He's an elite goalie (right Red Wing fans - beat you twice to go far in the playoffs).
For all you people out there who think I am not a true Canadian because I wasn't cheering for the Senators, think about this > most of the key Duck guys are Canadian:
Giguere, MacDonald, Getlaf, Perry, Penner, Moen, Kunitz, Beauchemin, Scott & Rob Niedermayer, Pronger, and Brad May. So Canadian team is relative.
This picture of the Niedermayer brothers is an awesome one. Good choice picking Scott as the Conn Smythe winner. Think about this Canuck fans, I think the real reason Scott went to Anaheim instead of Vancouver was he wanted to play with his brother Rob. We would have paid him similar $ and Van had an up and coming team.
Congrats to the Anaheim Ducks showing us some great hockey. You showed the world you are the best this season. I wonder who is leaving for more $ instead of trying to repeat as Cup champs? If Teemu retires I don't think they will have a hard time finding a suitable Free Agent for the same price ($3.7 mil).

King James vs Dominate Duncan
Here we have it...Cavs vs Spurs in the NBA finals. Now everyone knows (since most ppl read this blog religiously ...lol) I picked the finals to be Suns vs Cavs. Man I was close in my prediction. As I do wish Nash would have been able to pull off the come back vs SA, I am so excited LeBron took out the Pistons.
Game 5 vs the Pistons could go down as one of the greatest games as an individual in NBA history. It would have meant nothing if the Cavs lost the series. LeBron simply just took over. The commentator said he was playing, "Jordanesk". I understand what he's saying but he's the KING. The only guy who might have a shot to be like Michael Jordan would be L.James not Kobe (rumour has it Kobe has asked for a trade but the Lakers are promising him some help...Kobe get out of there! Or maybe you are the problem. If you were just a little nicer to Shaq you would have one 1 or 2 more championships). LeBron scored a total of 48 pts. It took double ovetime but he carried the Cavs on his back scoring 29 of their last 30 pts. Didn't Detroit call a timeout and say, "Maybe get the ball out of LeBron's hands and make someone else try to beat us."? I can guarantee you they did. You just couldn't stop this 22 yr old phenom. At 22 I was at college thinking about eating a pizza and playing a little hockey never mind leading a team to the NBA finals. WOW! is a great word to describe this kid. He is the real deal. What I loved about LJ is he didn't try to come out in Game 6 with a repeat performance but he did something else. Giving the ball up they beat the Pistons by 16. Gibson had a career high of 31 pts as they defeated a great team who had made the Eastern Conference finals FIVE YEARS straight. This is no little victory. The Pistons are so strong can cause match-up problems for every time in the L. But one guy beat 7 really good team players (hey T.Prince step down because the King is here!). Now you can see why I wrote a post about this.
As good as LeBron is the Spurs are better. What I you mean? Spurs have been dominating for yrs. Unlike Detroit, SA has a superstar. Tim "I love fundamentals" Duncan has been causing teams BIG time problems for over a decade. He has NBA rings to prove it. And the pressure to win is not all on his back either as they have surrounded Timmy with an incredible supporting cast. Parker and Ginobilli are absolutely amazing. To take out the Suns you got to be great. So who wins the 2007 NBA final? If I was wanting to write an incredible story with an incredible ending I would have LeBron hitting the game winning shot in game 6 or 7 with no time left on the clock. But reality says that the Spurs are different than the Pistons. I don't know who could guard Duncan and Parker. I think SA has a way better team than the Cavs but I hope that King James shows off his mad skills and dominates.
SA in 6.
By the way Duncan and James are my two favourite players. So to have them both in the finals is awesome for me. I look forward to watch this series. Hopefully the Cavs show up to play.
